BACKGROUND:
On Saturday, October 15, 2005 the MILLIONS MORE MOVEMENT
will take place on the national Mall in Washington DC. The event
will bring together a diverse coalition of national leaders of
various communities to address ongoing national issues that
affect lives of the poor in America. The assembly will mobilize
communities to develop a collective framework to respond to
critical concerns in education, housing, economic development,
finance, health, violence, etc. Men, women and children who have
common interests and goals are invited to be a part of this
historic event.
The
MILLIONS MORE MOVEMENT will be one of the largest events
to ever take place in the nation’s capital. It will bring
together millions of men, women, children and families in a
united front to reinvigorate national and international efforts
to maximize educational, political, social, spiritual and
physical well being of dispossessed communities.
The original
Million Man March brought unprecedented numbers of African
American men to the nation’s capital and demonstrated a
collective willingness to atone for past shortcomings and to
reconcile differences at home, school, church, organizations and
the society in general.
The
MILLIONS MORE MOVEMENT will acknowledge the
commonalities among all races, sexes, religions, ages and
political persuasions and offer a framework for this coalition
to address economic, social, political and cultural disparities.
